The architetctural contest starts in the summer of 2017. Construction is expected to be completed by May 2020.

Yes. We are looking for locations close to Berggasse 19 in order to informing on and sharing Sigmund Freud's life and work during the closure period.

What will happen to my contribution?

Your contribution will be used for the renovation and reorganisation of the Sigmund Freud Museum.

Why does the Sigmund Freud Museum need contributions?

The Sigmund Freud Museum is operated by the Sigmund Freud Foundation, a foundation without a financial endorsement. The city of Vienna supports the museum with an annual grant, the library and events' programme also receive public grants. Altogether, 25% of the activities at Berggasse 19 are funded by the public, The other 75% are provided by shop and admission income as well as sponsorships and donations.

Over 100,000 visitors per year make it possible with their admission fee and shop spendings to conduct the exhibition and science programme at Berggasse 19. The cost for such a big project as "Sigmund Freud Museum 2020" cannot be covered by the annual income.

Do the City of Vienna or the Republic of Austria support the project?

Yes, the City of Vienna and the Austrian government confirmed to support the project with 2.5 million Euros.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?
